+ISDX Pro/SURFACE Level 6 intro
Course Description: 16 Hours or 24 hours
Tuition: $1200.00 US $1500.00
Overview: ISDX is a relatively new surfacing module
from PTC. It is quite revolutionary in that it combines push and pull
like efforts of Alias or Rhino and gives those functions to Designers
and Engineers inside Pro/ENGINEER. This class
is perfect for Industrial Designers with previous Alias or Rhino
experience. This class is also great for those design engineers looking to capture
form within a product design arena and who work with industrial designers each day.
Prerequisite: 'Level 1 Workshop' or prior
use of Pro/SURFACE. Rhino or Alias experience not necessary. It is highly recommended to combine this workshop with our level one surfacing workshop.
Topics:
- Overview of the ISDX Module
- Terminology for surfacing
- Vocabulary for form with respect to light reflections.
- Different modeling approaches with respect to ISDX usage.
- Boundary techniques utilized by high-end surface modelers in industry.
- Overview of correct surfacing techniques drawing from standard surfacing
tools such as Alias and Rhino.
Discussion:
- Discuss using Pro/SURFACE parametric controls combined with ISDX strengths.
- Discuss with examples extra ordinary robust modeling techniques for
proving form.
- Vocabulary for understanding form with respect to the auto industry.
- From a design engineers perspective discuss working with industrial designers.
Tutorials:
- There are a wide variety of HTML documents that design engine industrial designers and design engineers have made available to classroom participation. Tutorials range from toys, flatware, motorcycle components, dash components to motorcycle faring.
- There are other tutorials with respect to stealth or aerodynamic form that is not documented online. Ask for details.
Note: This class is administered differently
to Engineers who are interested in capturing form from those industrial
designers interested in proving form using this amazing software.
Onsite Training: This course can be customized for specific product lines. CAD or Product managers should call to inquire about custom tutorial development
and costs for onsite training. We also offer a subscription for
custom tutorials.

designers may need subtle tweaks to a surface. With ISDX subtle modifications can be made easy and efficiently with little effort. With Design engine classes are more about modeling technique than step by step instruction that reseller training is known for.

proving form in Pro/SURFACE and ISDX. Multiple iteration
in hours.
model car developed with both Pro/SURFACE and ISDX

this Northrop unmanned air craft requires specific techniques
beyond just knowing how to use ISDX. Techniques and tips for
modeling aerodynamic form can also be incorporated. classes can be customized for stealth or aerodynamic forms.

Many times industrial designer request model where the radius from the side is flat while a very specific shape from the plan view. Our tutorials and instructors can help you achieve the shapes you want thru modeling techniques where other training organization just focus on step by step instruction guides.

We try very hard to make the class engaging where the participants hit road blocks like they do in their every day jobs. Our training is set up with many roadblocks to solve using ISDX combined with top down design as the example above is modeled all with Pro/SURFACE type curves as bounding boxes and ISDX free form curves and surfaces. We focus on workflow and working with industrial designers to capture form or help ID 'ers prove form.

Although difficult if design engineers come to us just for the two day ISDX workshop, we help mature the ID to Pro/E building process empowering participants to create more complex forms lie the above image using all four part boundaries.
